Ayrton Senna’s Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 road car is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in London on Saturday 1 November.
Following his win in the 1984 Race of Champions with an all-Mercedes grid of 190E 2.3-16s, Senna ordered his own car and collected it direct from the factory.
The future Formula 1 World Champion took delivery in October 1985 and drove the car home to the UK with fellow Brazilian driver Mauricio Gugelmin along for the ride.
Senna kept the 190E for two years and covered 24,862 miles in the car, when it was acquired by Robin Clark, a friend of Senna’s manager Julian Jakobi.
The present owner bought the car in August 1996, using a private number plate in place of the original fitted to the car when Senna bought it. The original plate has now been reapplied to the car.
The car was sold new with several options fitted, such as a fire extinguisher and Becker Mexico stereo. It also has its factory manuals, and car alarm and immobiliser still in place.
Now showing 154,302 miles on the clocks, this former Ayrton Senna Mercedes is estimated at £220,000-£250,000.
