A new widebody Ford Mustang with all-carbon fibre construction has been revealed by muscle car specialist Trick Rides and the car has been named ‘Scorched.’
The resto-mod Mustang will make its debut at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show held in Las Vegas, US on 4-7 November.
Using 3D scanning, Trick Rides has replicated a 1969 Mustang in CAD (computer aided design) to produce the carbon fibre shell with widebody styling to aerospace levels of precision.
Inspired by racing Mustangs, the Scorched project is built on a Roadster Shop chassis with Fox independent front suspension and four-link rear end.
A supercharged 5.0-litre Coyote V8 engine is the base option, but customers can also choose from a 429cu in Kaase Boss Nine V8 or Ford Performance 427cu in V8. All are mated to a six-speed Tremec manual transmission.
Only 20 Scorched cars will be made and all will have a custom interior.
Jason Engel, founder of Trick Rides, said: ‘Our latest creation, ‘Scorched,’ represents a new era in muscle car engineering and design. Our goal was to push the boundaries of what a resto-mod could be by adding modern twists to a timeless classic. The result showcases what is possible when modern engineering meets iconic heritage, and I’m beyond excited to debut the completed vehicle with TMI at SEMA.’
