Unique custom Ford Bronco Sand Dragster set for Mecum Glendale sale

A one-off custom Ford Bronco Sand Dragster will be one of the star lots at Mecum’s Glendale sale on Saturday 21 March.

Rather than a restomod, this is an original 1960s custom build by Charlie Erickson and Bill Stroppe, and it comes with a supercharged 170cu in straight-six motor.

The Bronco was raced by Erickson in Southern California from 1966 to 1970, and was then used a recreational car.

During its racing career, the Bronco won several hillclimbs and drag races, and it was then restored in 2011 to its original specification.

It comes with limited slip differentials front and back, as well as a line lock for drag use.

It has a stripped cabin, glass fibre front end, and seven gallon Moon fuel tank, and almost all of the parts used on the car are original to when it was first built.
