Caterham has launched a special limited numbers HWM Edition model inspired by the 1951 HWM-Alta grand prix car.
Only 19 HWM Edition versions of this Seven will be made and all will be finished in HWM Green.
Based on the 210bhp Seven 420 model, the HWM Edition has unique side panel louvres, nosecone grille, suspension wishbones, anti-roll bar, and headlight brackets in Retro Grey.
Other unique touches for the HWM model are the HWM Caterham nose badge and a central chromed fuel fill cap.
A hand-turned aluminium dash sets off the cabin, which can be ordered with leather or composite race seats.
The 210bhp 2.0-litrer Duratec engine delivers 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and a 136mph top speed.
All HWM Edition models will come with a numbered plaque and they cost from £57,990 before any extras are added.
Trevor Steel, Senior Vice President of Operations & CFO, Caterham Cars, said: ‘It’s been a real privilege to work with HWM on this special limited edition. Drawing inspiration from the legendary HWM-Alta racer, this car pays tribute to Walton-on-Thames’ rich racing heritage while celebrating the lightweight, driver-focused ethos that defines what Caterham is today.’
Guy Jenner, CEO at HWM, added: ‘We are immensely proud to celebrate HWM’s remarkable history as a works team and grand prix car constructor. This project has given us a unique opportunity to tell the story of how a small outfit from Walton-on-Thames took on the greatest teams in European grand prix racing during one of motor racing’s most inspiring eras.’
