H&H brings in £1.2 million at Millbrook sale

The H&H Classics auction at Millbrook Proving Ground on Sunday 10 May saw total sales of £1.2 million.

This was based on a 67% sale rate and 80 cars sold out of the total entry.

Top lot of the sale was a 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Sedanca Coupé that made £156,375, which was £6000 above its lower estimate.

A 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray roadster was second best-seller for an undisclosed sum, while third spot went to a 1957 Jaguar XK150 3.4-Litre Drophead Coupé.

A pair of Jaguar E-types rounded out the top five sales, while the following five cars comprised a 1964 Morgan Plus 4 Super Sports, 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Two-Door Mulliner Park Ward saloon, 1932 Frazer Nash TT Replica in need of restoration, a 1979 Ferrari 308 GT4, and a 1927 Lagonda 2-Litre Speed Tourer.

There were some bargains among H&H lots with a 1962 Lotus Elite Series 2 SE selling for £30,000 and a 1933 Alvis Firefly 11.9hp Two-Seater with dickey that sold for £13,500.

The mix of cars on sale at H&H Classics proved there is still keen interest in older classic models.

James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: ‘We were thrilled to hold our first ever weekend auction at the Millbrook Proving Ground and it was especially pleasing to see some notable results, not least for British classics.’
