Mazda 787B screams back to Le Mans for 35th anniversary

Mazda is bringing its iconic 787B back to the Le Mans circuit for demonstration runs to mark the 35th anniversary of its win in the 24 Hour race in 1991.

The 787B will delight crowds at the Le Mans Classic, which runs from 2-5 July, and the car will be driven on the full 8.5-mile course.

Mazda was the first Japanese manufacturer to wins Le Mans when this 787B crossed the line in 1991, and it is also the only rotary-powered car to win the French classic endurance race.

The ear-splitting sound of the 787B’s rotary engine made it a crowd favourite and it remains so right up the present day.
