A 2001 Volkswagen Polo E has been named the winner of the Concours de L’Ordinaire at the 2026 Festival of the Unexceptional.
The scratched and dented Polo is owned by Gordon McNeill and lifted top honours for still being in regular use 20 years after it became Gordon’s first car.
It has covered 176,000 miles, and it has been used for trips to the Nürburgring and to his wedding, as well as a family holiday to Spain.
The Polo beat a 1992 Toyota Previa owned by Matt Swinn into second place, while third went to Jake Seddon’s 2001 Ford Focus.
Other cars to be commended by the judges included a 1986 Citroen Axel, 1982 Fiat 127, 1991 Ford P100 TD pick-up, a 1994 Honda Civic Bali, and a 2000 Kia Clarus Wagon.
The event held at Grimsthorpe Castle saw 4500 visitors and 2500 cars attend the show.
