Historian, archivist and author Anders Ditlev Clausager has passed away following a long illness with cancer.
He was well known for the number of books he wrote and was also a highly respected historian, which sat neatly with his role as archivist for BL Heritage from 1979. This later became the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
Ditlev Clausager then moved to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in 2000 and then retired in 2014, though he continued to offer assistance and use his knowledge to great effect to help others. He was also a trustee of The Michael Sedgwick Memorial Trust.
Originally from Denmark, he moved to the UK in 1974 to study automotive design at the Royal College of Art and graduated in 1976 with a master’s degree. Work followed at Volkswagen, where Anders contributed to the Polo Mk2, and he then moved to Austin-Morris in 1978.
