Father and son BMW wins UK Hot Wheels Legends Tour

It has taken father and son team Paul and Ethan Foster 14 years to create their Group 2 race-inspired BMW E21 3 Series, but it’s all worth as the pair have won the UK round of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour.

The 900kg track-ready BMW features a wide body kit to have the same look and stance as BMW’s original race cars.

Power for the Foster’s recreation comes from a 5.0-litre Rover V8 engine producing 420bhp and it’s connected to a DTM-spec Getrag gearbox.

Paul Foster said: ‘It’s amazing to win the Hot Wheels Legends Tour UK. Built together with my son Ethan, it’s part of our family and we’ll never sell it. We’ve both been huge Hot Wheels fans since we were kids. I just can’t believe it. Representing the UK at the next round of the competition is so exciting.’

Ted Wu, senior vice president and Global Head of Design for Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, added: ‘This year, the UK once again delivered a lineup of jaw-dropping contenders, each brimming with raw garage spirit, authenticity and the kind of imagination that Hot Wheels enthusiasts crave.’

The Foster’s BMW now enters a European final, with other regional finals being held for the Middle East, Latin America, and the US. Each regional winner then enters the Global Grand Finale where the winner has their car immortalised as a Hot Wheels model.
