The Engineer is a new documentary film charting the life and career of race car designer Adrian Reynard.
Noted for his innovative approach to design, the film looks at his work as he progresses from building a World Land Speed Record motorcycle at the age of 19 through to his founding of Reynard Racing Cars.
The film also looks at how Reynard went on to create his own Formula 1 team, and there are interviews with Sir Jackie Stewart, the late Eddie Jordan, Toto Wolff, Jaques Villeneuve, and Otmar Szafnauer.
Directed by Sam Reynard, son of Adrian, it also looks at how the designer used his experience to help his daughter, Daniella, when she was born with a rare genetic defect.
Sam Reynard said: ‘he solo journey from tinkering in your garage to Formula 1 is no longer possible. Adrian Reynard was the last of his kind, a dying breed of engineers. His obsession is reflected in the extreme risks he still takes today, at the age of 74. That is the kind of person you need to be – obsessed. I have witnessed firsthand the effect that this unwavering ambition can have on those you love, and I want to tell that story.’
