A 1968 Triumph TR5 restoration project topped H&H’s Buxton sale when it was sold for £21,375 – £15,000 above its pre-sale estimate.
The TR5 was among 118 lots sold at H&H’s largest ever Buxton sale, which had a 75% sale rate and totalled sales of more than £1.9 million.
Proving that classics from the 1960s are still in strong demand, a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger with just 10,200 miles from new was sold for £54,000 to reach £14,000 above estimate.
Another Triumph to perform well was a 1949 2000 Roadster that sold for £12,000 more than its original estimate at £23,906.
It wasn’t just sports cars selling well as a 1962 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 found a new home for £40,500, which was also £12,000 higher than its lower estimate.
James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: ‘We’re delighted with how it went, not only with some notable individual sales, but also for wonderful attendance and the strong showing across the range of classic and performance motorcars that were offered for sale.’
