A 1952 Ferrari 212 Europa Pinin Farina coupé once owned by Ingrid Bergman is going under the hammer at Broad Arrow Auction’s Zurich sale on Saturday 1 November.
Bergman chose the car after she attended the 1951 Turin Auto Show with Italian director Roberto Rossellini, where he promised the actor a new car.
Bergman chose the Ferrari 212 with Pinin Farina coupé bodywork and it was displayed on Ferrari’s stand at the 1952 Geneva Motor Show before being delivered.
Finished in its original two-tone colour scheme, the Ferrari is estimated at CHF800,000-CHF 1,000,000 (£750,000-£943,000).
After Bergman, American director Clarence Leon Brown owned the car, and it has subsequently been displayed at the Ferrari Museum in Modena. It comes with Ferrari Classiche certifications and concours wins at Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este. It has also taken part in the Mille Miglia Storica on several occasions.
