The Monte Carlo Classique/Historique Rally will celebrate its centenary of starting from John O’Groats, the most northerly tip of mainland Britain.
Entrants to the 2026 event that begins at the Scottish start point will face a 1500-mile drive to the south of France for the finish of the event.
To mark the occasion ahead of the rally’s start on Thursday 29 January 2026, a number of classic rally cars from the Highland Car Club gathered in Inverness and were met by Provost of Inverness and Area, Cllr Glynis Campbell Sinclair, who said: ‘I am delighted to welcome participants of the UK leg of the 2026 Monte Carlo Classic Rally which will start in John O’ Groats and pass through Inverness.
‘The spectacularly renovated Town House is a fitting location to mark the Highland leg of the Monte Carlo Classic Rally. Let’s hope that this prestigious rally becomes a regular feature especially noting that the City of Inverness is the start and finish of the North Coast 500.’
