Rétromobile display of French Presidential limousines

The 1965 Citroen DS 21 and 1972 SM will head a display of French Presidential limousines at this year’s Rétromobile in Paris from Wednesday 28 January to Sunday 1 February.

Four cars will form the display brought by DS Automobiles and will include the Presidential SM convertible that is one of two such cars built.

The dark grey four-door open-top was specially created by coachbuilder Chapron and each was lengthened by 71cm. Uprated suspension and brakes were part of the creation of these cars, along with a hydraulically-worked fabric roof to keep the rain of Presidents including Georges Pompidou, Valéry d’Estaing, Francois Mitterand, and Jacques Chirac.

Alongside the SM on the specially created stand for the Rétromobile show will be two DS 21s. The first is a 1965 Pallas used by General de Gaulle, while the second is a 1968 model with a curved glass partition and brown leather upholstery.

Completing the four-car line-up is a 2025 Presidential DS N°8 with electric drivetrain and unique Nappa leather interior.
