Lola reboots T70

Lola Cars has re-introduced its legendary T70 sports car and it will be offered in both race-ready and road-going forms.

Based on the T70 Mk3B from 1969, the new model comes with a 6.2-litre Chevrolet V8 and Hewland six-speed manual gearbox. The transmission can also be used in a sequential mode for track use.

An aluminium chassis provides the base for the T70, which tips the scales at 890kg and offers 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds.

The track-only model comes with more power and less weight than the road version, so offers 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds and a 203mph top speed.

Double wishbone suspension is used all round and the bodywork is made from a new composite using plant waste and basalt rock that is bonded with a sugar cane-derived resin.

To meet the needs of modern drivers, the renewed T70 comes with air conditioning, a small boot, and switchgear for roadgoing functions such as indicators.

Only 16 of these new T70s will be produced and pricing has yet to be confirmed.
