BMW toyed with the notion of building an E46 M3 Touring but never got further than a single prototype. British firm Petroyle has moved the game on to offer its bespoke £130,000 M3 Touring.
The company’s M3 Touring is a close replica of BMW’s own M3 wagon yet comes with modern touches and further inspiration from the E46 M3 CSL.
Work includes a rear axle carrier panel to reinforce the boot floor, which is a known weak spot with the E46.
As well as the structural work, the Petroyle M3 Touring has the full bodywork conversion and front wings made in carbon fibre.
The interior, too, is faithfully recreated to look exactly as an M3 should but with the added practicality of the Touring’s boot.
As for the engine, customers can choose from the standard E46 M3 six-cylinder motor from a coupé model, with the option of rare zero mile S54 units available. Buyers can also upgrade to BMW M-Power V8 and V10 units to take their M3 Touring further than the factory prototype.
Petroyle will only build a limited run of 50 of its M3 Tourings, with the company’s first 001 car now complete as a demonstrator.
