Coupés lead the way at Millbrook Sale

A bevy of classic coupés is heading up The Millbrook Sale for H&H on Sunday 10 May.

A unique prototype Aston Martin DBS V8 is one of the rarities set to pass over the block and comes complete with its Lola Aston Martin engine.

Formerly part of the Nigel Dawes collection, the Aston DBS started life with a straight-six motor before being converted to a V8 by the factory in 1970. It is thought this makes the DBS the first privately-owned V8 ever supplied.

A 1976 Aston Martin V8 for restoration and a brace of DB7 coupés are also in the sale, alongside a 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 that looks like excellent value with an estimate of £80,000-£100,000.

Those seeking something a little more lithe will be tempted by the 1962 Lotus Elite, estimated at £30,000-£40,000.

This Special Equipment model of Elite has been fully restored and is one of the rarer ‘double dimple’ cars.

A pair of Jaguar-built cars will be sure to draw attention, with the 1965 E-type 4.2 presenting well and is tempting at an estimated £50,000-£60,000. The blue Daimler Sovereign Coupé shares the same 4.2-litre engine as the E-type but offers a more luxurious take on the coupé theme.

German fans are catered for with the 1973 Mercedes 450 SLC that is pitched at a surprisingly affordable estimate of £14,000-£18,000 for this handsome car presented in its original colour scheme.

An alternative coupé for anyone looking to do a bit of work on their next car comes in the shape of the 1971 Volvo P1800E.

The later P1800 needs some recommissioning but has no reserve for the car finished in white with later black wheels.

There are also a number of other coupés in this sale from various manufacturers, as well as a selection of other classics.
