A number of rare convertibles are heading up Historics Auctioneers’ Flights of Fancy sale at Farnborough International on Saturday 16 May.
Among the unusual lots is a 1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider by Touring with a right-hand drive conversion carried out in period by Ruddspeed.
This was a factory-approved swap and the Alfa comes to sale following a sympathetic restoration and ready to be used.
A very different pair of convertibles come in the form of two Chevrolet SSR pick-ups, one in bright yellow and the other in red with shite stripes. Both cars come from two-year ownership and are estimated at the £20,000 mark.
The Ford Cortina Crayford 1600GT Mk2 also has an upper estimate of £20,000.
This Ermine White example has been fastidiously restored by its previous owner of 50 years and has just 21,903 miles on the clock from new.
Four-seat convertibles on offer from Historics include a 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG, Alpina B3, Jensen Interceptor Series III, Peugeot 504 Cabriolet, and a Volvo C70.
More open-top temptation comes from a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG with a 604bhp 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, while a 2003 TVR Tuscan S promises a more raucous driving experience.
