Lotus positions at Charterhouse sale

Three mid-engined Lotus head up the Charterhouse auction on Thursday 4 June.

A 1978 Esprit S2 has the highest pre-sale estimate of the three at £22,000-£26,000 and it comes in the sought-after John Player Special black with gold stripes and alloy wheels.

This example is a left-hand drive model originally supplied to Canada and it has recently had an engine rebuild and repaint.

The 1990 Esprit Turbo S4 gives buyers a choice of a later generation of this model and it comes from long-term ownership with bills for a recent engine rebuild. It’s estimated at £22,000-£25,000.

Also in the same sale is a 1972 Lotus Europa with the potent twin-cam engine. It needs some work to improve it and has an estimate of £12,000-£15,000.

Charterhouse has a couple of rare Italians in the same auction, with a 1964 Lancia Flavia Coupe estimated at £10,000-£15,000.

The Fiat 131 Supermirafiori 2000TC four-door saloon is a 1981 model and was imported to the UK from Rome. It’s estimate comes in at £10,000-£15,000.

A pair of Lagondas offers pre-war enthusiasts plenty of interest, with a 1929 2 Litre Tourer and 1932 2 Litre Saloon both up for grabs with no reserve.

Another pre-war option is the 1934 Ford Model Y Special that appears to have been well made and is very handsome. It has an estimate of £4500-£5500 to look like very fair value.
