Boreham Motorworks Escort Mk1 is Ford’s latest RS

A fully licensed, all-new Ford Escort Mk1 RS from Boreham Motorworks is the latest model in the RS line.

Officially licenced by Ford, 150 of the 325bhp Mk1 RS cars will be produced by Boreham Motorworks and each carries a new Ford chassis number and comes with a two-year, 20,000-mile warranty.

No donor Escort is used as the Mk1 RS is described as ‘Ford’s new RS – the one true descendent of the RS lineage.’

Each car will come with Boreham Motorworks’ 10K 2.2-litre engine that revs to 10,000rpm and delivers 325bhp, driving through a five-speed dogleg manual gearbox.

With an all-up weight of 895kg, the new RS promises rapid performance, and there is also the option to fit Boreham Motorworks’ 182bhp Twin Cam motor that pays homage to the 1960s original model.

There are no modern driver aids for this RS, though it does have a torque-biasing limited slip differential and coilovers developed with R53 Suspension.

The main bodyshell is constructed from steel, while the bonnet, boot and much of the interior are carbon fibre.

Price for this fully licensed Boreham Motorworks Mk1 RS start at around £300,000 plus taxes.
