Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham’s Jensen Interceptor is to be sold by Iconic Auctioneers at its BRDC sale on Saturday 25 July.
The 1972 Jensen Interceptor III was bought new by the legendary drummer and is being sold in its original colour scheme of Reef Blue with red leather interior.
Bonham bought the car through his business, John Bonham Enterprises ltd, as a right-hand drive Interceptor III with 6.3-litre V8 engine and TorqueFlite automatic gearbox.
The present owner restored the car from barn find condition and there are invoices for more than £83,000 accompanying the car that detail work carried out between 2020 and 2023.
It comes to auction with an estimate of £40,000-£50,000.
Harry Whale, Car Specialist at Iconic Auctioneers, said: ‘This is a wonderful example of why provenance matters so much in the classic car market. The Interceptor is already a hugely characterful British GT, but John Bonham’s ownership gives this car an added cultural significance.
‘With its extensive recent restoration, strong presentation and realistic estimate, it is a very tempting proposition for both marque enthusiasts and collectors of music-related motor cars.’
