Two modified supercars headed up RM Sotheby’s most successful summer sale in the UK at the company’s auction held at The Royal Automobile Club Concours.
A Ferrari F40 converted by Michelotto at the request of first owner Jean Sage has increased power, uprated suspension and brakes, and reduced weight. This helped the car achieve a sale price of £3,605,000.
It was closely followed by a 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 Strassenversion, one of only such cars built by Porsche Motorsport.
Sold for £3,492,500, the Strassenversion is a roadgoing race car, but what made this one unique is it had covered just 1km from new and came to auction from long-term storage.
Still covered in its factory protective coating and wearing its original tyres, the 911 Carrera 3.8 RSR had been delivered to its first owner in 1996 before being stored until 2015.
Taking third step on the sales podium at this sale was a 1966 Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake that sold for £848,750. It is one of only 12 made by the factory.
Total sales at the Woodcote Park auction came to £15,975,765 and Sholto Gilbertson, Director of Sales, UK, said: “Our partnership with the Royal Automobile Club is amongst the most important we have in the UK. It was entirely logical that we should move our UK summer sale to the Club’s outstanding Concours at Woodcote Park and we are thoroughly delighted with the results we have achieved, continuing a very strong 2026 for RM Sotheby’s.”
