It’s a classic battle between fast Fords and Vauxhalls at Iconic Auctioneers sale at CarFest on 29-30 August,
Heading the sale with its pre-auction estimate is a 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 that is billed to sell for between £80,000 and £100,000.
However, a rare Rouse Sport 304-R version of the Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth might be the one to attract keen bidders as it has a pre-sale estimate of £35,000-£40,000. It’s believed to be just one of two road registered examples of this model in the UK.
In the Vauxhall corner is a 1988 Astra GTE 16v Mk2 with an estimate of £10,000-£15,000. If the price is more reasonable, the spec is no less appealing as this one is finished in rare Aubergine purple.
A Vauxhall Nova GSi from 1993 is another temptation with its lower estimate of £12,000 for one of the punchiest small hot hatches of its time.
Ford fans might be tempted by a brace of Escort RS Turbos, with lower estimates ranging from £20,000 to £45,000.
Saloon fans can fight it out between a 1986 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi and a 2006 Ford Mondeo ST220, both with estimates starting £10,000.
