Moss Motors has launched a turbocharging kit for the MGB that can add as much as 76% power and almost double torque.
The bolt-on kit is designed to fit all MGB from 1962 up to 1980 in left- and right-hand drive.
Using a ‘blow-through’ carburettor set-up, the kit has been developed to deliver safe amounts of boost and reliability rather than just outright power.
The heart of the kit is a modified Borg Warner K03-style turbo with built-in wastegate. A Walbro high capacity electric fuel pump feeds a purpose-designed SU HIF 44 carburettor, which sits on a custom cast iron manifold.
All of the pipework is included with the kit and it can be installed with the standard exhaust or a Moss 2.5-inch system.
Upgrades to extract more power include an intercooler and boost controller, cold air intake, and full exhaust system.
Moss has tested the set-up in various configurations that show power increasing at the wheels to 104bhp with just the turbo kit fitted. With the cold air intake that rises to 107bhp, while just the intercooler and turbo kit produces 105.5bhp. With all of the mods together, the MGB with a healthy engine delivers 116.2bhp.
At present, the MGB Turbo kit is only being sold in the US for $3995 (£2960) and first deliveries are expected at the end of September.
